Happy Birthday Richard (niemiro)!!

Have a great birthday, Richard!

Just think, a few more and you'll be ready to go to Hereford for SAS training to eventually become the computer expert on their Special Projects Team (AKA the Counter-terrorism force) - adding technical skills equal to Penelope Garcia from "Criminal Minds" that will make it unequaled by any in the world, including the USA's SEAL Team 6. Or, a more normal life at Cambridge/Oxford and taking your Engineering PhD to a Program Director or even higher position at Microsoft or the UK equivalent of the RAND Corporation or DARPA or wherever you choose.

Ah, well, we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves. LOL!

Anyway, do something special or get something special - or just take a relaxing day off. Maybe read the book I once sent you if you never did so for a total change of pace (PM me and I'll send it again if lost and you wish to give it a go). You'll have many more birthdays, but this is the only one at this age (given our current state of technology and you're young enough that such a change in your lifetime almost isn't science fiction any more but still not probable) - so ENJOY it!!

Your friend,

Kosh

Oh my! A Birthday! I just love Birthday's! Where's there's a Birthday, there's cake. And where there's cake, there's ice cream! Yum! Can't have cake without ice cream! Right?

Richard,

Wishing you the best on your special day!

Thank you all so much

Yep, 17 today! Learning to drive also. I have twice driven an automatic for a short period of time, but this will be learning properly, and on a manual. If I suddenly vanish off the forums, you can assume I have smeared myself down the central reservation :p

Thank you Kosh :) I will PM you for you extended discussion once I get some time.

Those are exactly the sort of careers I am looking at (albeit perhaps not quite that successful! But which to choose.

I am strongly considering taking maths at uni. I just enjoy the subject so, so much. I have loads of books on it (I even have one on nothing but prime numbers :p), and seem to spend half of my time looking up quirky proofs. I couldn't imagine giving up maths after A-Level. All the best stuff comes at uni level. I try to read uni text books and lecture notes, but it seems that some stuff I am simply not able to get my head around :(

I am strongly considering maths at uni! After that, I don't yet know. Very interested in Police/Intelligence work, also computing. Hmmmmm.

Thanks again everyone :)

Richard

Happy Birthday, Richard! Hope you've had a good day and that you enjoy the rest of the evening :) Unlucky for getting a weekday this year though!

What you can now do:

  • Drive most vehicles and pilot a helicopter or plane
  • No longer be subject to a care order
  • Become a blood donor
  • Be interviewed by the Police without an adult present.

One year away from all of these: http://voices.yahoo.com/100-things-now-re-18-156980.html

I particularly like #63 :p

lol. Some of that stuff is hilarious! I particularly liked 75 and 91. 93 is disappointing though :p

Thanks again Tom :)

Happy birthday!

Thank you very much Will!

Richard, avoid John's driving tips until you are comfortable enough with a car to try to break the sound barrier. ;)

I was taught only to drive like John does if I have a car on a race track. :p
