Some years ago, I got tired of the numerous security vulnerabilities in Adobe Reader. At the time, I also wanted a program with a smaller footprint and no added toolbars. My choice was, and still is, Sumatra PDF.

One comment about SumatraPDF is that many people do not care for the bright yellow background. If you don't like the yellow background, it can be changed to the color of your choice. It is simple to change the yellow background to the color of your choice. See how in my blog post at Replacing Adobe Reader with Sumatra PDF.

I just use google chrome and drag the PDF files in...

Works like a charm! :thumbsup2:

I haven't even installed anything, while using Windows 8 I don't mind the Microsoft PDF reader. If I didn't have this snap feature, then I probably would have installed a program, but there's no need now.

No problems with Adobe Reader here.

I do get rid of the various garbage Adobe apps included with it.

It isn't problems with Adobe Reader, rather it is that it is a target for malware writers. Although not a large a target as Java, the security vulnerabilities in Adobe products seem to be never ending and patching is poor.

I use Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Acrobat X Pro. It annoys me that Adobe don't update Acrobat the same as Reader and for me to upgrade from Acrobat X Pro to XI Pro would cost $200. No way am I paying that.

I keep Reader as updated as possible, but Acrobat X is updated as it's gonna get, they've stop pushing security updates for it. :(

Same here, Teaplease, even when there is an indication that Adobe Reader is required. Sumatra PDF works just fine.

I uninstalled Adobe from the outset & installed Foxit, but I seem to remember once when I updated it,it wanted to install some toolbar or something that put me off anyway. As I'd read good reviews of Sumatra I went with that. I always use portable versions of software too,if available.

I've used Foxit for years - over time I've come to be disappointed by it.
Too lazy to switch, but this topic is causing me to reconsider trying Sumatra
Thanks all!
