At the time, I also wanted a program with a smaller footprint and no added toolbars. My choice was, and still is, Sumatra PDF. One comment about SumatraPDF is that many people do not care for the bright yellow background. If you don't like the yellow background, it can be changed to the color of your choice. It is simple to change the yellow background to the color of your choice. See how in my blog post at Replacing Adobe Reader with Sumatra PDF.

If I didn't have this snap feature, then I probably would have installed a program, but there's no need now.

Although not a large a target as Java, the security vulnerabilities in Adobe products seem to be never ending and patching is poor.

It annoys me that Adobe don't update Acrobat the same as Reader and for me to upgrade from Acrobat X Pro to XI Pro would cost $200. No way am I paying that. I keep Reader as updated as possible, but Acrobat X is updated as it's gonna get, they've stop pushing security updates for it.

Click to expand... I uninstalled Adobe from the outset & installed Foxit, but I seem to remember once when I updated it,it wanted to install some toolbar or something that put me off anyway. As I'd read good reviews of Sumatra I went with that. I always use portable versions of software too,if available.
