Many Synative members have shared the story behind their choice of avatar (How/why did you pick your avatar?). Aside from the gobbledegook being used by forum spammers, I've seen some unusual choices for usernames. Who has a story to share about your use name choice? Do you use the same name everywhere?

When I started on forums over a dozen years ago, the name I wanted to use was already taken and nothing else appealed to me. After all, I felt the chosen name was "personal" so finally just went with my given name. Fortunately, my name isn't very common so I am able to use it at most sites. Even when it has been in use, using a slightly altered version, accompanied by my :rose: has assured recognition.

Mine is simply an amalgam of my Christian or first name initials plus the first few letters of my surname.

Mine is a product of, as seems to be the case more and more often in my life lately, a grandchild. Specifically my youngest grand daughter. The very definition of the word.... really.... look it up.... that's her picture next to the definition.
And possibly by extension other beautiful blonde haired blue eyed girls I've had the privilege to know and love.... like her mother and her mother.

My last name is Wolfe and when I met my bride of 45 years her maiden name was Wolf.
When applying for a marriage certificate in Texas she was asked her maiden name and she replied Wolf and the clerk made the statement "That's going to be your married name stupid" which my wife replied "Check the spelling stupid!"
We howled as we were leaving the courthouse.
So that brings us to "The Howling Wolves"

Mine was a name I came up with for playing Star Wars online and role playing games. Yes, I am a mega-nerd, and proud of it. ;)

When I first got a PC (Win95) I was amazed by some of the creative names I saw, I too wanted something different and since I spend most of my time in the basement I tought it was fitting. Basement Dofus was already taken

I use it all forums outside a few gun forums I belong to, same with the avatar.

This is going to sound really stupid but what is the correct pronunciation for your username? I've always said wr-i-f-z-i-den, with the both 'i'' said as it is in bike. Lately I've just referred to you as Mike!

Mine... When I was much younger (~7) I made an account on MSN games and that created a username for me. It was rounded_venus. I never needed a real online username before I started at Seven Forums so I didn't have one. I remembered my MSN one and changed it to Tekno_Venus. Eventually I removed the underscore and became Tekno Venus (not Techno Venus!)

Or you could just call me Stephen. :)

Stephen

You've been pronouncing it closer to its intention than most. I get a lot of w-rith-zid-en with the I pronounced as in lick.

It should be wr-I-th-z-I-den with the first I pronounced as in bike and the second as in speaking of yourself and saying I. The th is the same as in the word wraith, which I believe is where the writh portion of the name stemmed from.

Mine? Oh boy....

Well as most know mine is 5 words, Wish to be an Aussie.

Simply, I'm really hating the USA's sense of legislature. Where as the UK is more open and free to life styles.

Now as for the Aussie part. Well, I have two really great friends that live in Australia, since It'd cost me several thousands to take a vacation there, I simply told this line over and over again, "Oh how I wish I born in Aussie Land. So then I could be closer."

Sysnative is primarily comprised of current or former Tech Support Forum staff and since I was also staff they knew me by my real name, so I thought it would be logical to go as Cayden since i'd be immediately recognized by those that knew me.

My favorite TV series of all time was Babylon-5. My two favorite characters were Lorien (the first immortal entity in the entire universe and many billions of years old and pretty awesome) and Kosh Naranek (the Vorlon Ambassador to Bablyon-5, one of the two primary and 7 total "first one" races all of whom were also immortal but he was only a few billion years old and also amazing).

I first started with Lorien who met an unhappy ending and decided to change all to Kosh. But most forums didn't have Kosh or Kosh Naranek available, so I made up the name Kosh Vorlon by combining his first name with his empire.

For more about Kosh, see: http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/chars/kosh.html. The menu at the top will give more on the series and such. Though I've considered using him as my avatar, I really prefer Cap. For those not interested in all the details, here's what he looks like:

Once on a forum, while using another user name, I helped a poster fix a problem he replied "Thank you, you are a god!". To which I replied "No, I am just a guy". I started using A Guy. It happened to me again at 7F

Whatever you did I am sure you were worthy of your title so Good job! :thumbsup2:

My name comes from the fact that I am a lacrosse player

Lacrosse is frequently shorted to Lax so in essence my name is lacrosser. Goes with my avatar as well :grin1:

I graduated from Johns Hopkins - IMHO the all-time best team. While I never played (too much time with martial arts), we may have won every season during my college years (74-78) - I don't really remember 100% as that was a long time ago.

JHU happens to be my favorite team although recently they have not been doing so hot...

'09 they loss their all-star faceoff man and midfielder and never really recovered...

I've had high expectations but they all fell apart :(

They were the only team to beat Loyola last year who went undefeated except for that game and took the championship...

Ok Corrine, this time you don't get pictures, Unless you ask Laxer for a time lapse of him changing my name.

I told him I was ready for a change. It's time things got more personal. I mean almost all of you either follow me (I have stalkers... COOL) or reply in my threads know a great deal of my health state and my many projects.

Since everyone pretty much knows everything going on in my life I thought, ok it's time to release the final change and update to my profile here.

Laxer is too fast for anyone to have even gotten the camera in place while he was changing your name.

Not stalkers, the correct term is friends -- or to be more specific, virtual friends. :)
