[SOLVED] windows update errors help

advance system care, and system mechanics and the disk cleanup that comes with windows.

OK, after we fix your system and your logs are clean, are you then running these programs and then find afterwards that we have the same issue again?

no. the re-appearing of the msdtc.log in the sfc scan has been the troublesome file that I have. from time to time I might get a disk bit volume error which is easily fixed. but if we can get the sfc files clean this time if the msdtc .log re appear I can live with that. okay?

Great. Let me know if the issue reappears. If it does I'm going to get advice from some of the other staff to see if they have any ideas.

I am pretty sure that it will re-appear soon. kick it around with some of your colleagues and see if you can glean some more knowledge about a permanent fix for this problem and share it with me. I am a life long learner, school is never out for a pro, You Brian are a pro so keep learning.

good morning Brian to my amazement I just ran a sfc scannow and the msdtc .log cannot repair member files showed up again. it took a week to return this time. I was about to email you and tell you it looked liked this time the issue was totally solved, and it showed back up today, amazing.

when you and your colleagues come up with something let me know, I am curious myself about this.

Let's check out your disk.

It appears you may have issues with your disk but I would like to use the manufacturer's disk analysis tool for another check.

Can you download and install the following software?

OK, that's good. Let's do another chkdsk /R so I can see the results.

Step#1 - ChkDsk Repair
1. Click your Start Orb in the lower left of your computer and type cmd in the search box.
2. Once the cmd program is found, right-click on it with your mouse and select Run as administrator as shown below.
ElevateCommandPrompt.JPG

3. Answer Yes when asked to allow.
4. You should now have a black window open that you can type in to.
5. Please type chkdsk /R and then press enter. Note: There is a space after the command chkdsk and before the forward slash
6. You will get a prompt telling you chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use. Answer Y and hit enter to schedule the run at next boot.
7. Reboot your computer and chkdsk will run. Let it complete please.
8. Right-click ListChkdskResult.exe and select Run as administrator (Allow if prompted)and a text file will open (and also be saved on the desktop as ListChkdskResult.txt).
Please copy the contents of this file and paste into your next post.
