Running CheckSUR on my install doesn't replicate the errors, and I can't see any differences in the registry that mean anything to me.

Will post a fix later :) SP1 had them in it, but strangely my computer didn't despite it being SP1 with VPC installed. Tom

If you look at the posts, both links point to the same file. Tom

I've disabled services and startup services and all that mess in msconfig. Still having the same problem. Any ideas?

Download it again if you no longer have it: Download System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [August 2013] from Official Microsoft Download Centre Then: Export CBS folder Click the Start button then click Computer. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder. Find and double click on the Logs folder. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created. Tom
