Thank you so much!

I've been able to source some of the files, at least - but I'm having trouble with the others.

Here's what I have currently anyhow....

I've uploaded a file - rb9aa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder rb9aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folders inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Okay, here's the new logs:

I missed a pair - but they can wait a while, while we try and sort the others out.

Although they are part of the VPC install, the version numbers don't seem right to me.

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and
then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site
(preferably Dropbox or SkyDrive) and post a link.

Okay, I uploaded the components file to SkyDrive.

http://sdrv.ms/190TuQa

Thanks again!

There's no references to the problem files in that hive - which means that they must be in the SOFTWARE hive.

This one is a little more complex, because of the sensitivity of the information in that hive.

Please copy the
C:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE
file (no extension) to your desktop and
then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site
(preferably Dropbox or SkyDrive) and Private Message me with the link .

(the problem is that among other things, it contains you Windows and other software license data - which you don't want getting into the public domain!)

Odd - SkyDrive is complaining that they won't let me download it because they can't scan it for malware!

That would normally imply that the file is corrupt (assuming you didn't password-protect it) - please try again

That worked - the interesting thing is that two of the missing files are present, and one is missing, from the registry.

I really need to have a play and see what I can come up with. That's not going to happen until tomorrow evening :(

Sorry - distracted by work <ptui>
I'll try again tomorrow. - back then! (promise!)

I hadn't realised that you were running BootCamp!

Please post your system specs.
I don't honestly know whether it's possible to run a VPC inside a BootCamp (I think it is, but....) - but we can still at least attempt to fix the known file problems :)

I can see nothing amiss in that hive, either :(
I'm really at a loss now.

I'm going to ask Tom to have a go - or Richard if he's free.

Which specs do you need? It's a 2010 Mid Summer release Macbook Pro. 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Ram, 500 GB 7200 RPM HD.

That'll do for the moment :)

Tom or Richard may ask for more detail.
