Hi, new user here so please be patient if I forget to include something

I have an Alienware Aurora R4 that has been experiencing random BSOD.
it was originally a Win7 machine but after a few BSOD I upgraded to Win10, reupped all drivers, reseated all components and still getting random BSOD

Not sure what else to add, below I answered the basic questions from the posting help page and I included Perfmon and BSOD reports

· Windows 10
· x64
· What was original installed OS on system? Win7
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? OEM
· Age of system (hardware) 2011
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? reinstalled it about a week ago

· CPU 4930k i7 extreme
· Video Card nVidia GeForce gtx 680
· MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop) I have no idea, whatever the standard is in this one
· Power Supply - brand & wattage (if laptop, skip this one)

· System Manufacturer alienware
· Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom) aurora r4

· Desktop

Of the 11 I ran they are all WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124) except for 1 naming an old Netgear driver (scmndisp.sys Fri May 27 06:30:22 2011)
D/L and run the Intel CPU diagnostic tool lets eliminate the CPU as the actual cause> https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool-64-bit-

ok, testing it now!

on that note though the only Netgear item I use is my Netgear wireless adapter, could that be the source of any problems?

Ok so the Intel Processor diagnostics just gave me an all clear.

Passed on every level, So I'm gunna go out on a limb and say its not the processor?

Also the Netgear adapter is a

wnda3100 v2
wireless-n dual band

when I pulled it out to check the model number but pc IMMEDIATELY BSOD

the error code had something to do with the driver verified test I ran earlier.

So I uninstalled the software and reinstalled the latest one, so hopefully that helps?

It's a Netgear file so it has to do with the wireless adapter but I suspect it is some software associated/bundled with it as opposed to the actual driver.

So if its not the processor and I've reinstalled the drivers/software for the wireless adapter.....just use it and see if it BSOD again?

Just my 2¢ here:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later systems - using older drivers with them is almost certain to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have the latest Win7/8/8.1/10 drivers - DO NOT use older drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

So, there's 2 known issues here:
- the general instability of USB wifi adapters
- the specific instability of older drivers in USB wifi adapters

Please remember that BSOD's are actually fairly rare events - so many, many people will be able to use these drivers without issue.
Unfortunately, you are one who can't.

First test is to update to the W10 drivers from Netgear.
If the system still BSOD's, then try using a wired connection, a PCI/PCIe wireless card, or another (different make and model) wifi adapter temporarily (just enough to see if it's the cause).

Sounds like a plan.

I've updated the drivers already.
This adapter is something I've used for a year now.
the BSOD started about 2 weeks ago when it was still win7
since then i reinstalled win7, updated to win10 after the issue persisted.
the BSOD would happen randomly and with no set time frame.
So if it dies again I'll post about it again!

Thanks!

Unfortunately experienced another BSOD

from what I could read it looks like it IS an error with the WiFi adapter.
I've downloaded and run a few registry cleaners to hopefully fix it but if all else fails I'll grab a new adapter :(

Hi Sto5rm ^_^,

The ZIP file uploaded by you is not extracting since it is corrupted. Could you please re-run the tool and upload a freshly generated ZIP File (Before uploading, kindly check once that the ZIP file is opening :) ).

Sorry about that, hopefully this one will work!

I've downloaded and run a few registry cleaners to hopefully fix it...

Why are downloading and running registry cleaners? Using registry cleaners is not going to alleviate the problem, but most likely potentially escalate the problem instead! Registry cleaners are completely unnecessary with modern operating systems, and most of the registry cleaners are poorly designed/written thus leading to greater problems. Please bear this advice in mind for the future.

Code:
[COLOR=#ff0000]BugCheck C4[/COLOR], {[COLOR=#0000cd]62[/COLOR], [COLOR=#008000]ffffe00120433840[/COLOR], ffffe0011ff61ef0, [COLOR=#ff8c00]1[/COLOR]}

Probably caused by : [COLOR=#ff0000]bcmwlhigh664.sys[/COLOR]

It appears that a driver has failed to release it's pool allocations before being unloaded from the system, this leads to serious problems like pool leaks. The second parameter contains the address of the unicode string which provides the name of the driver provided in the Probably caused by: line:

Code:
11: kd> [COLOR=#008000]du ffffe00120433840[/COLOR]
ffffe001`20433840 "[COLOR=#ff0000]bcmwlhigh664.sys[/COLOR]"

As you correctly mentioned, the issue does appear to lie with your network adapter card, could you please check for any appropriate updates if you haven't already done so? Have you checked that the driver is compatible with Windows 10?

Code:
11: kd> [COLOR=#008000]lmvm bcmwlhigh664[/COLOR]

start end module name
fffff800`b9950000 fffff800`b9a87000 bcmwlhigh664 (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: bcmwlhigh664.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\bcmwlhigh664.sys
    Image name: bcmwlhigh664.sys
    Timestamp: [COLOR=#ff0000]Mon Mar 02 08:48:58 2015[/COLOR] (54F423FA)
    CheckSum: 001358D9
    ImageSize: 00137000
    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

The last parameter contains the number of pool allocations which weren't correctly freed.

I have downloaded the win10 version of the device, sadly I have experienced another BSOD due to what appears to be the same issue.

I'f I just stop using the device will I be fine or do I need to uninstall something as well?
