Hi,

Sorry about the wait, we've been really busy lately.

I am currently installing a copy of Windows 8.1 in a Virtual Machine so I can source your files. This will take some time.

Whilst you wait, could you tell me where you got this copy of Windows 8.1 from? Did it come with the PC? Did you upgrade from Windows 8 -> 8.1? Or something else?

Stephen

Thanks for the reply stephen

Btw, I upgraded from 7 to 8, and just recently updated to 8.1 direct from the windows store.

Thank you, that is very useful information.

Windows 8.1 is about to install in a VM, so bear with me for a few hours. I may not be able to get back to you today, but should find a chance tomorrow :)

Could you put a date on when you upgraded? It would help us a surprising amount, actually, as we are trying to work out exactly when the copies of Windows 8.1 on the Microsoft servers were affected by this.

Thank you!

Finally got Windows 8.1 installed. On a side note, I like 8.1 a lot more than I like 8, from initial impressions. :)

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

I have also updated my tutorial here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...b-and-prncacla-inf-corruptions.html#post59076 with this new 8.1 folder.

Regards,
Stephen

thanks for the help!

I totally forgotten about this until a few hours ago, and when i run sfcfix again, it seems that all the problem had gone!
There was an update installed yesterday, and I believed that microsoft had rectified the problem once and for all.

again, thanks for the attention :)

i thought all my problem has been solved, but apparently

File system error -1073741819

still persist. My UAC is messed up royally. Every time i turned it on, I can't access any .exe file as the error will pop up constantly. THe only remedy that I know now is to just go to safe mode and disable UAC altogether to bypass the error.

Seems like my windows 8.1 is all messed up :/

Hi,

Hmmm.. that is a very strange problem! Is SFC still reporting corruptions or not?

Could you confirm something? If you boot into Safe Mode and disable UAC, then does the error still occur in normal boot?

I would like you to run a preliminary malware scan, just to rule that out before further troubleshooting. Install and scan your computer with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Do not start the free trial. Paste the log produced into your next post please. If malware is found, I will refer you to the security experts here.

I've run the test and there seems to be no malware detected, the only hits i got are below. I deleted all the files though, no big deal. Btw, after booting on safemode and disabling UAC, the error wont resurface again, until I enable it back on. Really perplex me this one :/
