A good change is on the way In the coming weeks you'll notice a change happening. SkyDrive will become OneDrive, an even better place to store and share your favorite things across all of your favorite devices. But don't worry, during this transition you'll still be able to access all of your photos, videos, documents, and files. OneDrive. It's everything you love about SkyDrive and more. And it's coming soon.

After the announcement, I added the tag for OneDrive to my blog posts that had been tagged with SkyDrive. I didn't remove SkyDrive though since it will take people time to adjust.

Although when I went to the Microsoft Image Gallery, the SkyDrive logo seem to be missing from the Windows Live category: Microsoft News Center ? Yes...it's due to the law suite filed by the UK/EU Sky corporation. The email is just a reminder that the name change is coming soon. And for those that didn't sign up for the notification, those users may turn on the PC to find a big change on Skydrive one day soon and will likely to freak out...well some will.

I actually visited onedrive.com just yesterday, and got the standard "we're still getting things ready". Now that website is properly live. However, when I click "sign in", I just get redirected to Skydrive. So presumably it's just a case that they've started the transition.

Click to expand... Very good question.... first 100,000 people who sign onto their OneDrive account will get 100GB of extra storage space for one year Click to expand... Microsoft to give away 100GB of OneDrive space for one year to 100,000 people [Update] - Neowin I have 100GB from that promotion, 20GB from the fact I had (well, had) a Windows Phone, and 25GB for being a long standing user. The 100GB and 20GB promotions are only for a year. The 25GB is permanent - I've had that ages... I'm guessing they'll ask you to pay - or delete things. Not sure though.. EDIT - Ahh - Microsoft treats Windows Phone owners with extra 20GB of free SkyDrive storage for one year | WinBeta And, as amnesia points out in the comments below, "If you exceed your remaining storage space when the subscription expires, you'll be able to view, share, and download files on your SkyDrive, but you won't be able to upload files until you buy more storage or free up space."
