One of the intrinsic capabilities of Windows 8 is the ability to use multiple accounts on any PC. This makes it much easier for parents to use tools that can help protect their children from content on the Internet as they see fit. It is also a great way for each family member to maintain their own unique online identity while still sharing a single PC. Microsoft has been a leader in creating tools to help maintain a safe computing environment for all users as well as for parents in particular. With Windows 8 we have substantially improved the family safety features and services available. Phil Sohn, the senior program manager lead for Family Safety, describes how Family Safety features will work in Windows 8.

I just built my son HIS first PC. The very first thing I did was install Microsoft Family Safety. It allows me to restrict programs, websites, even the days and hours of which he is allowed to use the PC. I get a very detailed report every Sunday morning along with it. My son is what I would consider well behaved, but a little peace of mind, never hurt anyone. In an age where parenting has taken a back burner to provision, it's nice to know that there's a little help from Microsoft.
 
Just wait until your son figures out how to disable it :lolg:

At that point I would just go into networking and do some access restrictions...
Teach him a lesson while he is being "naughty"

In a few years he will have a very good understanding of windows security, access restrictions and networking! :thumbsup2:

:r1: yes, this is true. Locks only keep honest people honest. So I guess ultimately it's up to me to ensure that he fully understands the definition of integrity.
 
Just physically take it away if not...

I always hated when I lost my computer access.
 
Prior to my granddaughter reaching her 13th birthday, my daughter assigned her a project to research the dangers on the internet. They also watched several television programs about abductions.
