re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

Hi bassfisher! I get redirected when I click on your link. I don't see any thing about the site being hacked!!

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

The page won't load for me either.

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

I think Bassfisher meant: hxxp://www.forumswindows8.com/

Yes - hacked. Proceed with caution

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

Lol, I've seen this person before (way back).

Used FTP service exploits to log in with admin privileges and delete everything in \ROOT to replace with his/her own hacked page placeholder.

Beat me to it.

The site is not dangerous it is just flash audio and a javascript function.

Interestingly, the dragon i the background is the logo for backtrack 5 - A well known linux distro built around bruteforcing passwords.

Wonder if it is related or if they just used it to be a "badass"

Regardless, mostly harmless assuming he has backups :lolg:

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

MHO! Most hackers do this for the fun and excitement. I can tell you this, however. They have made a lot of enemies by the careless way they ban their members. I know a lot of good people that those four sites have banned. All four of the sites are owned by one person and they have made several enemies.
I'm sure they will recover but it will happen again. These are my thoughts!
Yes! I have been banned from all four sites, but I just brush the dust from my boots and move on!

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

This isn't eightforums nor is it owned by Fairbrother I don't think...

OK! My bad. I just know one person owns 4 help forums. PC Help, W7 help forum, W8 help forum, and W10 help forum and the big dog that does most of the banning is Airbot. I don't know the owners name.
If this reply is not appropriate or suitable for this forum, please delete!
I think our own JC knows these things about those forums! I'm no stranger to those forums! I'm no longer welcome per Mr. Airbot:eek4: IMHO this is the best place to get help with your PC:thumbsup2: sysnative. We'll get-er-done here on sysnative!!

I'm pretty sure 95% of us here on Sysnative are banned from Fairbother's forums, so we're all aware.

Yup, he went on a banning spree a few years back after we turned down the offer for him to buy us out...

I had < 100 posts at all of his forums and also got banned.

C'est la vie

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

Wow! That's quite a story. Thanks for sharing it! I'm not sure what I did there. No reason was given as you can see in my screen shot that I attached.

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

You didn't do anything, that's the beauty of it all.

Welcome to Sysnative, Fairbrother refuge.

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

Thanks Patrick! It's nice to be with fellow refuges. I'm sure I can learn new things here and maybe even help a little!!
I do know W7 pretty well. I'm looking for a place I can call home!!

re: forum hacked - windowsforums8.com

Most if not all of us here at Sysnative just enjoy computers, whether it's debugging, reverse engineering, Windows Updates, hardware, software... or just... you know... regular old computer stuff. The best advice I can give to fit in comfortably here is just relax and enjoy yourself.

Regardless of our status in the work world, or our expertise in a subject, we generally leave it behind in other words and just post to help. Displaying expertise in a subject isn't the sole objective, and not being an expert in something doesn't make you less of a person than anyone else. The staff here are always willing to teach, and that's why we have the Windows Update academy, the debugging information subforum, etc.

Another group of defacing skids. Like if the Internet needed more of them. Sigh.
Take back the server, restore a back-up, patch your OS, services, software and you should be good for now.
