I dunno if it's possible, but I'd like to see if you can add the user kd files to the Analysis Options...Files to Save options.
I presume that this will allow the userX.txt to open (if selected) when the dumps are finished running.

It'd be much easier if the files were opened for us by the app (and along with the other reports), rather than having to go and find them/the button in order to open them. That way, all reports would be shown in one place at one time.

Another idea is having the app able to select some user kd files to display based on the presence of a particular error.
For example, if the memory dumps have a STOP 0x124 error - then the app could automatically select the !sysnative.auto_errrec command to run? I realize that this is a bit far fetched and won't be disappointed if it doesn't work out.

Thanks for all your hard work.

In regards to only opening the 0x124 files when appropriate, !sysnative.ae only produces output for dumps with bugcheck 0x124, I think??? What do the app's output files look like for non 0x124 dumps? Perhaps the solution is not to open user logfiles with no meaningful output...

Could be - but I'm not all that familiar with it.
Also, I don't use the AE output very much, even with STOP 0x124
If it turns out to be possible, then my next request (still forming in my mind) is to scan stack.txt for 3rd party drivers. If none are present, then to generate the user1.txt for the dps commands.

Another idea/suggestion is to tell what order the output files will appear in. In other words, I read the stack.txt, then the 97, then the 98, then the template.txt - why not be able to view them in that order?

I'll look into these for the current apps. It would require a pretty major design change, and after putting in about 36 hours the past three days to get the latest apps out, I'm not up to doing another major change for a few weeks.

I'll see about slowly integrating this idea into 3.0.0 and add it to 2.X.X when finished. I've set aside an hour a day to work on 3.0.0, so it may be a month or two before the feature is available for 2.X.X

Mike, Mike, Mike <sigh> Take it easy on yourself! You often say that you're not going to have time - and then we see you "burning the candle at both ends". Don't worry about it so much. We appreciate your hard work and understand that you'll get to it when you can. And, if it's important enough to me - I'll gladly come back and ask you point blank "When are you going to do this?" But for right now, none of this is critical/essential - so take your time!

Minor glitch (to me) in v297 - first window doesn't stay on top while I shift focus to Firefox so I can copy the URL (to paste into the Originating Post section of the app)

Also, I occasionally get an error saying I can only run one instance of the app at a time (Instance violation).
This happens shortly after the app finishes generating/displaying the .txt files (right after I click on "View texts") - and I try to reopen the app (to click on the view user kd stuff).
Sometimes it let's me look at it on the second try - sometimes it doesn't.

Dunno if this matters, but I just double click on the app exe - I no longer right click and select "Run as administrator"

Those glitches are easy enough to fix. I'll add the menu items to the first screen for "Always on top" and have it enabled by default with the option to turn it off if desired (and save which option the user prefers).

For the second, I can move the multiple instances check to later in the apps so they check after the first screen but before .dmps are run. I just wanted to prevent multiple sets of .dmps being run and causing other problems with the apps trying to access the same information at the same time. I may fix it so multiple versions can be run. I'll have to give that some thought. :-}

I believe 2.10.0 accomplishes much of what you asked. Let me know if you need any changes made to the output interface after you have had a chance to use it. It should be a bit more user friendly and give you the options you were asking for.

It's great! Way much more than I hoped for! The text windows that open are in just the order that I want, so I can just close each one as I'm finished in order to get at the next one. Previously I was shifting between the text window and the Task Bar to shift focus and check other outputs.

2 things tho -

The Output window (the one with the View button for ordering the output) stays open even after you click on "View texts". This requires an extra click at the end to "Cancel" it. Now that the User kd text files are in the output I'd think that it'd be preferable to have it close and exit right after you click on View texts

The timer for the DmpList timeout doesn't appear to save settings changes (I use 15 seconds and have set it repeatedly within the app).
I haven't done any "Save and Run" or any "Save Forum ZDN" tho' - but I didn't have to do that with previous versions. This may have been present in the last version, but I didn't have a chance to work with it very much.

UPDATE:

The 15 second DmpList timeout appears to have been saved when running dumps from Windows7Forums - the one's that were not saved were from EightForums. I did one dump from Sysnative in between, but did not check on the timeout there.

UPDATE 2:
15 second DmpList timeout was "unsaved" (?) in the Windows7Forums on the last dump that I ran.
Curiouser and curiouser! :0)

Ah, the DmpList timeout was affected by the change I made to allow you to run multiple instances of the apps. I will fix that.

I have now fixed the apps so the output window closes when .txts are opened from the first output screen. An update will be released later in the day with all bugfixes mentioned and a third that I found in the process of tracking down the bugs you mentioned.

Thanks Mike! I'm still continually amazed by your abilities and the speed with which you crank out the revisions to the app!
