It's a bit difficult at the moment but I'm changing my last name to Prest from Herring using a system called 'deed poll' in the UK.
Herring isn't my original name, Prest is and hence I'm changing it back as it should never have been changed years ago.
I've told my mother but she isn't too happy and wants to leave me to it, at the end of the day it's my choice and I want to go back.

Anyway, the point of this post is that on Twitter and Google+ my name is difficult to change so I've had to create a new hotmail email and google email as I use two, a new twitter and therefore blogger.
As a result I have just imported my blog from blogger to wordpress so I'll go from there.

Thank you very much John.
I certainly did, I can explain in detail about the name change if you wish. I don't mind explaining anything openly. (Only a very small number of things I don't.)

I wish you all the best of luck with this. Having spent years tossing and turning over the very same conundrum, I've got a pretty good idea of what it's like. I had a good opportunity when leaving school & moving to university, but in the end elected not to due to all of the potential hassles from various places, but I certainly haven't ruled out changing it in a couple of years time. It's a really big decision though & not one to be taken hastily. I'm very glad for you though, because you've obviously taken the time to carefully consider the options & I'm sure it means just as much symbolically to you as it would to me. It's really not just a name after all - like you I wouldn't consider changing my name to some random one, but one with special meaning to me. All the very best :)

No you won't, Patrick. I haven't experimented with WP lately but when I started by blog I tested both WordPress and Blogspot. At least at the time, Blogger was much more flexible than WP.

That's right! How could I forget about yours.

I prefer WP's themes more than Blogspot.

Does WordPress free support a code box plugin? I couldn't find one. Can you even use plugins with WordPress free?

I love how we get off track all the time in these threads.
I think it's great, it always looks as though we're human beings who can engage in conversations without strict rules saying you must post here and there etc.

I started with a Blogspot theme and then converted it from 2-column to 3-column, followed by personalizing it to remove the lighthouse and change other parts of the theme, which couldn't be done with WP. This 3-column versoin wasn't available when I made the change manually: Harbor: harbor. You can see the wasted space from Bill Pytlovany's blog about the town where he lives: Visit Scotia, New York

I'm a fan of Wordpress, although admittedly I've never used Blogger so I can't say whether it's good or bad.

I've been trying to get my own blog up and running, but had to stop when I went back to school. It's nearly there, a few bugs to iron out in the theme (i.e the huge logo!), but hopefully I'll start posting in it soon! :) Tekno's Blog - Musings of a Geek
