Hi,
Windows 7 Ultimate, Asus Republic of Gamers Extreme III MB, 24G mem, 19TB storage, i7 950 at 3.07G.
About a month ago Firefox upgraded itself to 17 I think, and ceased to start. I don't remember the error message but essentially, attempting to run it produced a 0xc000007b error. Over the next few days, I found that CorelGraphics Suite X6 64 bit applications would not start, as several Adobe Creative Suite applications (but not all) also failed to start.
I've gone as far as I know how. Read,Read,Read, then ran SFC, and found several items not fixed. Only 2 related to Intel platform.
I managed to find where the files were located, and attempted to copy them over from the Windows install disk, but they were older than the installed files. In any event, this did not help. My current options are to restore a Dec. 25, 2012 full backup. Acronis Home 13 has been unable to restore to my Raid 0 array, and there tech support cannot determine why.
I started out on this system with a 64G SSD as system drive. Fearing I would soon run out of space, I started installing most applications on the D drive, a 2TB raid 0 array (not bright, I know). Have since managed to clone the raid to a 3tb single drive, but I still have some hope of fixing the actual issue prior to using this outdated backup.
I will attempt to attach a condensed report form SFC ("could not repair"s only). First time posting here.
I remember there was a similar issue resolved here about a month ago, which a web search located and led me here. Any help or insight would be appreciated. My experience level is primarily applications. I program in some high level languages (Vbasic, Vbasic for apps, Alpha4, Ruby, etc), and have always been able to resolve most tech issue on my own. I can use basic text editors and or programming editors, and not afraid to attempt anything. I am at my end on this one however.
Any help or insights appreciated. TIA.
