These strange crashes have reappeared once again - this time on 2 different systems here.
1. The HP laptop - subject of this thread
2. A Gateway E6100 desktop
I believe them to be the same type of crash because of the rarely seen error message - something like "Windows OS must now close" - like the error message "Explorer must now close", which we all have seen.
The symptoms are the same - complete loss of "clicking ability", yet the mouse can be moved around the screen.
Both systems had HDDs pulled; HDD in HP laptop now replaced & Windows 7 x64 installed onto it.
The Gateway - need to either get another IDE HDD & install Windows 7 or use the current HDD.
I'd like to save the files from each drive first to see if any clues can be obtained (EVTX, IE Cache, TEMP, etc..). I managed to get dumps (created via TaskManager) of several processes that seemed to be spiking or otherwise "odd".
I really would like to get the server HTTP logs to look at the traffic at the time of each incident to look at the line item statements (GET, PUT, etc...) to see if similarities exist.
For now, until the files are retrieved from the HDDs, there is little to do.
