Hello people.

I'm having a problem updating Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. Ran Windows Update Diagnostic and gives 3 errors.

  1. Windows Update error 0x80070057 (2015-09-01-T-05-34-31P) Not Fixed
  2. Cryptographic service components are not registered. Not Fixed
  3. Service registration is missing or corrupt. Not Fixed

I’ve ran sfc /scannow and have logs.
Also ran SFCFix and have 1.06GB zip file of logs. Which hopefully will be uploading via script.
Screenshot of failing updates below.

Can anyone help?
Many Thanks

    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Alright the SFC scan returned a clean CBS.log. By curiosity, if you run the Windows Update Diagnostic again, does it reports anything as "Not fixed"?

Alright. Try to install only one update. If it fails, upload the two files below for me to review please.

C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Follow the instructions below please.

Every updates? If you go in the Windows Update panel, and click on Check for updates in the left-pane, is there any new updates that are found? If so, what's their KB number?
