Hello. I have been having an impossible time to restart my computer after windows updates installs and then reboots the computer. I have since run SFC scannow and it has shown when I first ran it that there was irreparable corruption. Then I downloaded SFCfix and ran that. It crashed part of the way through.

Let's try getting you to the latest version:

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
  2. Accept the License Agreement
  3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
  4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.

I tried it and this was the result after the computer failed to display anything after the update started and rebooted.

Please do the following:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

I tried using the setup from the iso on my desktop and it caused the same unresponsive blackscreen on startup, but the error said a different thing afterwards than last time.

This time the update did not cause my computer to permanently blackscreen on start up. Will I have to update from the other account every time now?
