Hi guys, i've been having this problem for the last few days where whenever i "check for updates" on the left hand side of the windows update window i receive the error code 80072ee2. After having tried everything i could find on the web regarding this problem ranging from flushing my dns to the troubleshooters to dism and sfc/scannnow, i found that the only time this "check for updates" completed successfully was when i unplugged and replugged my router. I looked at the WindowsUpdate.log file and found something odd, whenever the update would receive this error (80072ee2) these lines came up

Now i'm thinking that this had to do with one of the Cisco AnyConnect vpn services that my university had me install to install programs like MATLAB from its server. However whenever i try starting this Cisco VPN service i receive this "VPN service not available". However as i said when i unplug and replug my router the "check for updates" works fine. I've attached a few lines from my WindowsUpdate.log file showing firstly the "check for updates" i did after rebooting my computer and secondly the "check for updates i did" after unplugging and replugging my router. If anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

Sorry Again, i forgot to add that if i were to restart my computer and then "check for updates" i would receive the error code 80072ee2 again. This was only solved by unplugging and replugging my router and would arise again if i restarted the computer.

Hi I'm soo sorry I didn't reply I thought that maybe my post wasn't seen and hadn't checked the forum for a while, however not long after having this problem I used the WiFi provided by my university, and the check for updates worked. When I brought my laptop back home and checked for updates again, it surprisingly worked again and I was able to receive updates for Windows 10, after updating I have not had this problem since, do you still recommend me running the above scan? Thanks for your reply and sorry again for not seeing it sooner.

If everything is working I don't think it will be required :)

I'll mark the thread as solved. Please post back if you encounter any problems.
