I'm having the exact same issue. I was unable to use the sfc \scannow function as well but your second command returned a cbs.txt file that was actually too big to attach. I cut it down to just the logs from today which should include several restarts and windows update attempts so it should be fine. Thanks in advance!

Hello, and welcome to Sysnative :)

First, please download and install the System Update Readiness Tool from here: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Please save the download somewhere convenient you can later find it as we may well need it again later. Save you a second download :)
Also please be aware that the tool can take up to an hour (very occasionally even longer) to complete. Please be patient.
Once it has finished, please upload C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log.

Then please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products

Navigate to C:\Windows\RegBak\{Date}\ and copy the COMPONENTS file to your Desktop. If the COMPONENTS file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.

Now right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.

Then please upload it to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big for here). If you have a Microsoft Account, SkyDrive could be a good choice: https://skydrive.live.com/, but any other will do just fine. Make sure to set the file as publicly accessible.

Then send me a link to the file.

Thank you!

Richard

Thanks so much! I'm following those steps now and will post shortly.

Hello again :)

WARNING: This fix has been created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do not follow these instructions as you may cause serious harm to your computer.

Download a copy of SFCFixScript.zip, and save it to your Desktop, from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2jcpckscfykx4ka/SFCFixScript.zip
Then download a copy of SFCFix.exe from here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/downloads/sfcfix/, and also save it to your Desktop.
Single click on SFCFixScript.zip and drag and drop it on top of SFCFix.exe. SFCFix will open and perform a fix for your corruptions.
A logfile called SFCFix.txt will open (and be saved to your Desktop). Please copy and paste the report into your next reply.

I then want you to re-run the System Update Readiness Tool & upload a new CheckSUR.log. Finally, re-test Windows Update :)

Thank you!

Richard

That log looks great actually!

The two remaining errors are caused by a bug in the System Update Readiness Tool. They aren't real corruptions, and do not need fixing. The single corruption which was causing the problem has now gone.

Can you please try Windows Update and let me know any remaining error codes/other problems?

Thank you!

Richard

I'm receiving the same message as before with the same error code (Code 80070002).

Please upload a new set of CBS logs (whole CBS folder please).

Thank you!

Richard
