When you uninstall it, does it gives you a success message? What is your current Windows Update setting? Automatic, so it downloads and install updates whenever they are available?

Automatic downloads and installs are on for windows update, though I've turned them off (today) because it keeps trying to install SP1 on its own.

Try to install the SP1 again and upload the logs if if fails. We'll see if the KB982018 keeps on coming back, and if not, if uninstalling the ones that block the install will actually allow it to go through.
