SFC reports no problems
Ran the tool to reset Windows Update components (several times)
Used CheckSUR (August 2013 version) to fix - failed to fix
Followed Advanced proceedure in Advanced guidelines for diagnosing and fixing servicing corruption and copied identified *.MUM and *cat files and reran CheckSUR.
No success so far, final resort maybe to "repair" windows using the DVD - will have to go on-site to perform that. Any other ideas before travelling to the site?
Interestingly, the commend "wmic qfe list" fails with "No Instance(s) Available. - have not resolved that issue either.
PC is working acceptably otherwise.
