Been having trouble installing and unistalling programs. My computer asks my to install FlashPlayer each day in Internet Explorer. Tried to install a new HP Printer software and realized that my window's installer is not working properly. I've tried pretty much every "solution" offered on the web and when running sfc \scannow in my command prompt it came up with that:
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
I am currently running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack Two.
If there is not other solution, I will have to re-install windows.:r1:

Hello, and welcome to Sysnative :)

Let's find our what SFC is reporting as corrupt, and we can go from there. Please...

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created. Please upload it here.

Thank you!

Hello :)

The good news is that there is nothing to worry about in your SFC report. There was a slight bug in one of the recent Windows Updates which causes SFC to incorrectly detect as corrupt some perfectly healthy files. Whilst this is slightly distracting, the long and short of it is that these files are not corrupt, and are nothing to worry about.

However, this doesn't help with your installing and uninstalling problems.

First, please work through these steps: How to troubleshoot problems when you install or uninstall programs on a Windows-based computer

If they do not resolve your problem, please copy word for word the exact error messages and problems are you getting.

Thank you!

I downloaded the Fix It program, and though it seemed to be deleting programs, they are still on my computer under programs.
When I tried to delete I Tunes, I receive this message.
The Installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. May indicate a problem with package. Error Code 2203.

When trying to Delete Sympatico Scan Program in my control panel , I receive this error.
Error 1603. Fatal Error During Installation. Consult Window Installer Help (Msi.Chn)
I used the fix it tool to remove and while the program is gone from my installed programs in the control program is still on the computer.
Other error codes will say.
Setup.exe has stopped working.

Hello again :)

First, please enable verbose logging: How to enable Windows Installer logging

Then run an installer/uninstaller until it fails.

Then please click Start > search for %temp% and press enter, sort by date created so newest is at the top, and copy off the msi*.log file created (where * represents any number of random numbers and letters).

Paste to Desktop, zip up, and upload.

Thank you!

Richard

Not sure if it's relevant, but as regards uninstalling only,Revo Uninstaller takes some beating IMO.
