After trawling through the internet and following microsofts various instructions I have decided to ask the people on this forum if they can help.

I have done every step explained in the microsoft page with little successes and so I ask you gentleman (And woman) for a solution using other methods.

attached is the CBS in a ZIP file. Cheers

It would help if you told us what you have already done...think green...save a keyboard!

First thing you should have done is run MS Update rediness tool, reboot, try again...Have you done that?

Yes. I have, not that fruitful. I have tried everything that the microsoft website has provided in terms of solutions for the problem

ok, In that case, we will need a few of your details....might want to scan posting rules, things like operating system are generally pretty useful...otherwise I might spout off some instructions for you for Windows 3.11...

Did you check your settings for emm386...ya know, make sure you have enough of the 640K available to programs.... ;-)

Try this yet:

How do I reset Windows Update components?

It looks like your WU client won't update??

Tried that, Nothing at all

Running windows 7 Ultimate 64X

also, Emm386? please, tell me more friend.

So the error code didn't change when you reset the software distribution folder?

Ok, check and make sure your windows update service and BITS are running.

Did you zipping up the CBS log follow running a sfc /scannow? It looks a little different then I am accustomed to seeing.

Usually the update readiness tool fixes that one...Are you running SP1?

I have had limited success with grabbing the fullfile DL of SP1, and reinstalling it. That will reset windows update back to an old version that maybe your PC will be able to update.

I'm not the CBS.log expert, maybe Jcgriff or Will Watts will chime in since I haven't seen this particular issue before.

I just got this computer today. It's not a major but, it is an annoyance. Ah well. Couldn't tell you why the CBS file is a bit different. I'll see If I can download sp1 in the meantime.

No the error code didn't change when i did so and both services are running.

I'm certian I'm running sp1.

You can tell from control panel > system, but lets do the install anyway. It's not going to hurt anything.
