This certainly is a strange case - if you recall, KB2901983 was successfully installed earlier. Please go ahead and reattempt installation of KB2901983. When it fails, immediately run the Collect programme and provide vslogs.zip in your next reply. Thank you.

Please execute the following script, and attempt installation of the update again afterwards. Let me know if installation is successful or not. SFCFix Script (.txt) Warning: This fix is intended for use on this particular machine. Do not use this fix on any other machine; doing so may cause damage to your Operating System. If you are not the original poster and require assistance, please start your own topic. Download View attachment SFCScript.txt and save this file to your Desktop. Close all open windows. SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt should both be present on your Desktop. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it. SFCFix will now process the script. Upon completion, a file (SFCFix.txt) will be created on your Desktop. Copy the contents of the file and paste in your next reply.

Please refer to the following article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/976982 Scroll down to Method 2: Repair the .NET Framework and run the repair tool. Attempt installation of the update after running the tool, and let me know how you get on.

Should this option fail, I will say that we will have just about ran out of troubleshooting options, and will need to look towards a more aggressive approach (such as a repair install of Windows). Please let me know how you get on with method 3.

It looks like we succeeded after doing Method 3, although I never got an acknowledgment when I installed .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pac 1, saying it was installed. After that I was able to install KB2901983.

C cafe Active member Joined Oct 14, 2015 Posts 31 Dec 8, 2015 #54 Thanks for following up. I thought I was done with KB2901983, however a subsequent optional update for the language pack with the same KB2901983 number came up, and it will not install. I tried the recent method that worked and no luck.

C cafe Active member Joined Oct 14, 2015 Posts 31 Dec 15, 2015 #58 Thank you for the advice. I have an HP computer and I'm unable to download the Windows 7 Ultimate repair install through Microsoft. After I entered my product key I was advised to contact my device manufacturer. HP apparently does not provide the repair software, and were more interested with charging me money, so they could have access to my computer. Is there anywhere else I can download the Windows 7 Ultimate repair install software?
