Hi everyone.

On my laptop, clicking on the Windows (10) icon, in the bottom left corner of the screen, no longer brings up the "Start" menu and tiles. Any ideas on how I can sole this problem?

Thanks,

Jim

Further to the above post, I find that the "Search the web and Windows" search bar is not working. I have tried the following fix (found elsewhere and published in January this year):

Launch the Registry Editor (hit the Windows key and R, type regedit, and then press Enter) and then navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ ImmersiveShell\Launcher

Although there was at least on report that this fix worked. It did not in my case.

Still looking

Hi,

I have found that if I create a new user account, the start menu works correctly. I wonder if there is a way to copy the programs, desk top layout from the faaulty account to the new one. Alternatively those properties that cause the start menu on the new account to display properly, to the "old" account? Of course I could setup the new account to match the old but it would be nice if there is an easier way. In either case the surplus account would then be deleted.

Regards,

Jim

Hello,

If you load into the user account that is having the issues and open up Task manager (ctrl + alt + del -> Task manager), click on More details in the bottom left hand corner, click on the tab Details. Find explorer.exe -> right click and just End Process. Then click on File -> Run New Task -> enter in explorer.exe and press OK.

Is the start menu icon still stuck?
