WIN Updates restart, shut down "hung", powered off, SFC cannot commit repairs
Running: Lenovo ThinkPad T60p, Vista Pro
..
Feb 2013, WIN Updates (5) restart initiated, shut down hung.
"Stopping ...." displayed for 30 minutes or so.
I had to power-off to get past the problem.
..
..
SFC /SCANNOW shows:
..
"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
..
The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot."
..
..
sfcdetails.txt shows:
..
Repairing 2 components
[l:42{21}]"Wdf01000Uninstall.mof" from store
[l:24{12}]"Wdf01000.mof" from store
[l:42{21}]"Wdf01000Uninstall.mof" from store
[l:24{12}]"Wdf01000.mof" from store
..
Repair complete
Committing transaction
Cannot commit interactively, there are boot critical components being repaired
..
..
A. run SFC /SCANNOW , always shows:
"found corrupt files and successfully repaired them."
..
B. restart of ThinkPad , always shows:
"configuring update stage 2 of 3, 100% complete"
..
..
I would appreciate any information that would resolve this problem.
I do NOT want to spend a week completely rebuilding the ThinkPad from Recovery Disks.
My last system backup (Apricorn) was 6 months ago.
