Y yeppo Member Joined Jun 10, 2020 Posts 18 Jun 17, 2020 #26 I have tried using windows update. Sadly, no cigar. SP1 gave an error 80073701. Malware gave 800B0109. So did MSE.

Y yeppo Member Joined Jun 10, 2020 Posts 18 Jun 17, 2020 #28 right. But SP1 should, right? And wasn't there a way to update the certificates?
S Sysnative Windows Update Inactive Joined Oct 9, 2014 Posts 773 Jun 17, 2020 #29 Nope. They are set to expire on the day Windows 7 reaches EOL and if these have not been done prior to that date, you cannot update them. The SP1 has the same issue + OS corruption, which makes it seem like there is something else in play, when in fact there is not. In order to fully fix this, I'd recommend upgrading to Windows 10.

Y yeppo Member Joined Jun 10, 2020 Posts 18 Jun 17, 2020 #30 I've just tried to update virus definitions through MSE: failure because 0x80240022. I can't believe they broke it so bad that you can't keep it safe. This is a second-hand computer, updates never did work since I have it, I thought I'd try and fix it. Do you think an upgrade will even work? With this much dysfunctionality, I'm starting to think it can't be saved and I will will have to setup the whole thing anew. In any case, many thanks for trying. Too bad it didn't work out.

Y yeppo Member Joined Jun 10, 2020 Posts 18 Jun 17, 2020 #32 we did? What did we do? :) I have to look into an upgrade. It would have to be over USB, this thing has no dvd drive.
