Stupid question probably, but. . . if you just bought this beachfront property in Spring Lake, NJ, for the reduced price of $6.5 Million (originally listed at $7.8 Million), what is the first thing that you would do to it?

The correct & incredibly true answer - BULLDOZE it, of course!
:r1:

No joke. I saw wrecking crews demolishing the home this afternoon. All that remains is a pile of rubble. No phone with me, so no after-bulldoze pictures. There are before-demolition pics below. Info:

I guess the new owners didn't like the color! ;)

If you got $billions, then $8 million or so is just chump-change. Obviously, the new owners wanted the land.

While all that waste is surely a shame, a whole lot more good will come out of this than if the new owners just moved in. A bunch of people will be put to work tearing down and building the new home. They will be earning good money and spending that money in the local restaurants and other stores and injecting more taxes into the local coffers - and Uncle Sam's too. Many more people will be working in factories making all the new materials, fixtures and goods going into the new home.

So all things considered, this is a good thing. I just hope they recycle as much of the old as possible, and properly dispose of the rest.

I saw it yesterday and got some pics on my phone. Now to figure out how to get them here!

The wrecking crews were on clean-up detail. Only 1 chimney (with their sign) + the American flag is all that's left besides tons of rubble.
