I have been chasing a phone issue since last year. See MagicJack. I received 2 calls from our sons and with the computer off the connection was quite good. I wonder if the router could require setting changes since with all the chasing and changes I have made so far it did not clear up.
I did make a recommended change to the router settings.

Navigate to your routers web interface.
The default username is admin and the default password is admin. (If you have not changed it)
On the left, click on Advanced Setup and then click on NAT and then click on ALG.
Uncheck the box by SIP Enabled. (Some TP firmware shows this as SIP Transformations which is the same thing).
Click Save/Apply.

Also under Basic Security

There are other choices in the Application Layer Gateway. FTP, TFTP, H323, RTSP. These are still enabled.
Additionally there are other choices under Basic Security.
Firewall - SPI Firewall
VPN - PPTP, L2TP and IPSec
These are all Enabled.

I assume that you are still experiencing negative issues. If this is the case, try turning off anything regarding SPI. After you make these changes,

let us know if you are still experiencing issues, please.

Thanks!

Yes, that is why the post. It is very strange. I even get calls where there is no answer when I respond. This happened
when the caller was a relative.

They don't call back. Usually they revert to E-mail. Your comment is interesting as our son in Virginia uses Verizon. The
one in California uses AT&T.

Yes, it happens all the time. I'll call my Mom and I can hear her but she can't hear me or neither can hear anything. A hangup and callback usually fixes it.

We've had more problems with Verizon since Hurricane Michael. Even though it's been over 2 years, I don't think they've mitigated all the issues.
