Not too long ago my computer, an Inspirion 5482, started having issues running apps it was fine with earlier, I looked more into it and I found that the video controller was malfunctioning and wouldn't update or reinstall when I attempted to change it, with the installer giving the error "The Configuration Registry Database is Corrupt" so I attempted to uninstall and reinstall the intel graphics driver and intel graphics control panel but neither worked. The bluetooth driver is also malfunctioning apparently but I have not touched that or cared as I don't typically use bluetooth on this to begin with, but I believe it is related. Now I am lost on what to do and how to get it functioning properly again. Please help if you can

Please perform the following steps:

1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
2) sfc /scannow
3) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
5) sfc /scannow
6) chkdsk /scan
7) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
8) wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType = 7
9) wmic recoveros get autoreboot
10) wmic recoveros get DebugInfoType
11) bcdedit /enum {badmemory}

12) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

Memtest86 has a feature to produce a text report.

b) Sea Tools for Windows long generic test

I am trying to update the bios but dell says the bios is up to date and I am not having success manually installing it, I'm starting on 8 but here is what I have so far. Also capture 3 is an image of the windows update list, I keep this computer as up to date as possible but when the issues showed up so did this list of updates, and it fails to download all of them except the windows update, which gets stuck and doesn't download fully, although I am going to try to leave it to see if it is just not updating properly or something, and it is actually downloading

Hi!

Step 1 - Replace Drivers Hive Manually

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download DRIVERS.ZIP and save to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
  3. Now we have the DRIVERS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  5. Right-click on the current DRIVERS file and select rename. Rename it to DRIVERS.bad.
    Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  6. Take the file from the Drivers folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config


Afterwards, reboot and retry updating the drivers again.

It seems to have worked at first glance, but now for some reason my disk usage is at 100% all the time, everything is updated and up to date now, and I'm trying to figure out what it is, I just ran error checking on my C: drive but it found nothing. I have a hunch it'll be something with the drivers as well, I tried disabling superfetch as apparently that is a common issue, but my computer doesn't seem to have superfetch installed

The logs had displayed possible drive problems, recurrent problems with the drive file system, and multiple BSOD.

When available update the progress with steps #8 - #10.
