We all know Microsoft bought Skype a while back for the large sum of $8.5 billion, and since then Microsoft has been working to integrate the video chat software into a number of its products such as Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8. Now, more products of the partnership between Skype and Microsoft have been revealed, with updates for Skype now available for download through Windows Update.
KB2727727 details Skype 5.10 for Windows Update, supposedly released on August 14th and published as an update on August 23rd. According to Microsoft, the update includes new options to voice/video call Facebook friends, a new contact list that makes finding Facebook friends more easy, and the ability to tag friends as favorites.
Skype now joins a very exclusive set of applications that update through Windows Update, with essentially all other items being core Windows features and Microsoft products like Microsoft Security Essentials. We can't wait to see more of what both groups have up their sleeves for the Microsoft-Skype partnership.
