This seems to be a on going issue.

For your reference mine issue occur after recovering back from a Windows 10 update I was not satisfied with.
My laptop's video drives do not seem to be totally compatible with windows 10.

After starting to update Windows 7 I received this loop issue.

As instructed to previous users, I have done the following:
1. Click your start button and type cmd in the search box.
2. Right-click on cmd that comes up in the search results and select Run as administrator. Answer Yes to the UAC prompt if it appears.
3. Copy/Paste the following into the command-prompt window and hit enter.
reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate /s >1.txt && notepad 1.txt

Here is the result:

Thanks for sending a prompt response.

I ran the script and received a missing "msvcp100.dll missing" error message. I took care of that issue and ran the script again without error.

Windows update no longer wants to reboot but now it wants to upgrade to windows 10. I already upgrade this computer, Dell Vostro 3550 64bit laptop, to windows 10 twice and ran into a video errors. First time was a blank screen. Luckily plugging in an external monitor gave me enough time to roll it back to windows 7. After I update dated the video driver I up graded to win 10 again, this time I did not lose the screen but it started getting a screen flicker/reset thing happening about every five minutes. It was annoying and I was not sure what it would work up to for issues so I rolled it back to 7 and that's when I got the update restart loop.

the following is the content of the SFCFix.txt file:

Before I try to upgrade this laptop to Win 10 I will wait to here back from you.

Thank you for the expert help and prompt service

Do you wish to upgrade to Windows 10 or do you want to stay on Windows 7 for now?

I am happy with Windows 7 but should update to Windows 10 if this laptop will work on it. If it wont I am ok with it. I am still running XP on some older computers I have and am happy with them. I picked up this laptop and another Dell Inspiron 5110 64bit laptop. The owner upgraded because these were both "slow". I did a factory recovery on both and the are plenty fast. I up graded both to Windows 10 but the Inspiron had the screen issue as well even after a bios update and updating all the newest drivers from Dell so it is back on Win 7 as well.

I guess the short of it is if there is a fix for the video drivers I will update to windows 10 if not C'est la vie.

What is your laptop brand and model?

In that case, there's two options: wait to see if these laptops will officially support Windows 10 in the future, or upgrade to Windows 10, and install the highest drivers available from their driver page.

That was the conclusion I had reached as well. In my other research I had read about another possible service causing the same issues that might be correct down the road with Windows fabulous updates. For now they are well working free laptops.

thank you for all your help

No problem Dirigo, you're welcome :)
