My Windows 8.1 x64 system is unable to complete the install of the windows update for KB3000850. It processes the install, gets to 8% while in the light blue update screen then reboots. It soon posts a message the update failed and begins the rollback. after another reboot I am back with a system telling the update needs to be applied.

The CBS.zip file was too large to attach. How should I send it?

Yes it is very likely. Please try the following. Do this exactly as stated and then try installing the update.

Create the following two directories. Copy and paste the folder names so it's exact.

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\wiaek002.inf_amd64_57f9361b96ceea4b
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prnekcl2.inf_amd64_59438dc7ce792b20

Copy wiaek002.inf from C:\Windows\Inf and paste into the 1st folder you created above.
Copy prnekcl2.inf from C:\Windows\Inf and paste into the 2nd folder you created above.

That did it. Thank you!

How did you determine the source of the problem? Just curious...
