Hi,

Thank you for your very quick response. I have removed BitDefender.

If the BSOD analysis diagnoses such information was BitDefender compromised by some form of malware or was it flawed by some event(s) on the computer ?

Again, thanks very much. I'll begin a search for new system protection. Any guidance appreciated :D

Hi!

It was caused by BitDefender's driver.

I would recommend that you look into something like Sophos Free or Panda Cloud AV free. If you want something paid, I'd recommend ESET, Emsisoft or Kaspersky.

The Bitdefender driver MAY have been outdated -
Code:
 [SIZE=18px]bddci.sys Mon Jan 28 01:24:14 2019 (5C4ECA3E)[/SIZE]

Although 28 Jan 2019 was just 3 months ago. Seems like it would be the current driver based on timestamp.

ESET is the anti-virus and firewall that has the smallest system footprint - but they do charge for it.

ESET Internet Security would suffice if you want a 3rd party firewall - Antivirus and Internet Security Software For Windows 10

Actually, ESET NOD32 anti-virus along with the Windows firewall is a superb combination too. That is what I use.

When you think about it, who better to protect your Windows system (firewall) than those that wrote it - Microsoft.

For info, I am an ESET beta tester.

Hi again. . .

I noticed in the dumps that your BIOS was ~5 years old and believe that I found an updated BIOS for you.

Your current BIOS info:
Code:
BIOS_VENDOR: American Megatrends Inc.
BIOS_VERSION: P1.20
BIOS_DATE: 09/05/2014
BASEBOARD_MANUFACTURER: ASRock
BASEBOARD_PRODUCT: FM2A78 Pro3+

Doing a search on manufacturer and product number led me to this page - ASRock > FM2A78 Pro3+

As you can see, both manufacturer and product number line up to the info reported in the mini kernel memory dump.

You currently have BIOS version 1.20 installed; the update page shows version 1.70, which has a timestamp on it of 2015/12/16 - almost 2 years newer.

I would suggest that you use the last line - "Windows" and to the right "Global" for your download source. Download it to your Desktop. It is a zip file, so extract it to the Desktop as well (or to a folder on the Desktop).

Be sure to close ALL windows before proceeding.

Make sure that your A/C adapter is plugged in (if a laptop).

For info, old BIOS' can be the underlying cause of BSODs, but I cannot say that with absolute certainty or conviction in this case.
