Hi "guru's", hope you can help me to a solution.
The first two PC's (one (PC#2)win7pro and one (PC#3)win8.1home, migration went well, the 3.rd. (PC#1) - no migration.
All PC's show No pending updates.

PC#2 and PC#3: Using the downloaded MediaCreationTool1909 program - after some seconds it show the selection box - first I asked for "media to be used on another PC", which were saved to a USB stick.
Then I selected "install on this PC", and migration went well on both pc's, and everything on these two seems to run ok, except for the office program I had to uninstall and reinstall (office 2007).

PC#1 : I have a PC running win7pro, a lot of programs installed, hence an upgrade (not new clean install) will be preferable.
After downloading of the MediaCreationTool1909, I try to run the tool as admin., I see the "Windows flag" for a short moment, that's it! no errors or anything else show up (wonder if there is a log somewhere?) it looks like closing again fast?
Using the USB installation media, created on PC#2, within windows as admin, it start but never finish ... it looks like it is stuck, nothing show up on screen .... (is there a log somewhere ?)
Using the USB media from boot, it takes me to the window asking if I want to upgrade or install. I select upgrade, and it just ask me to run within the windows (not boot).
Running SFC /Scannow, finish with no errors found.

Any good ideas are welcome

/Tom

Problem: I try to use the WindowsCreationTool1909, to upgrade my Win7pro to Win10pro. Not working. Splash screen show for a moment, then prg. close.
Problem: Using a win10.iso to Upgrade win7 to win10 (within windows7). Not possible. Splash screen show for a moment, then the program close.

I have read others have had problems upgrading when AntiVirus and malware programs are running, I have uninstalled Malwarebytes, and MicrosoftSecurityEssentials programs, after running to check for virus or malware. The programs did not show any threats. All not needed programs starting at windows startup has been disabled (msconfig). All programs in windows start folder has been removed.
Windows update work fine, and show no updates waiting (except 2 non important - regarding the now uninstalled MSE).

SFC /scannow: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
SURT / SFCfix: No errors found, no errors corrected.

The problem explained, at the beginning of this post, is still existing - upgrade not working.

Hi!

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Hi Softwaremaniac,

thanks for your help so far, most appreciated. I forgot we have a session going and uninstalled some programs, cleaned some files and registry tried out a few uninstallers .... now SSD have 70GB free space.
To do my daily work, I ran msconfig and enabled the startup prg.'s, to run as normal.
I have now done new SFC /scannow (found one error which were corrected), sfc /scannow again - no errors. Ran SURT - no errors.
Finally a new farbar run.

I wonder why I see a Bitdefender driver in the FRST.txt (whitelist), as I have uninstalled Bitdefender years ago!

Current files, as per 2020 feb 06, attached.

Sorry if this are going to be any extra work for you ..... looking forward to your suggestions and comments

/Tom

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

Good morning SoftwareManiac,

FYI ... Removing the AlcorUSBCardReader software was not easy, as it kept reinstalling itself - even after the removal of connection to the card reader (hope I can reinstall later).

Fixlog.txt attached. What to do next ?

:( MediaCreationTool1909: Win7 to Win10, Upgrade not working - same problem. Running MCT as admin - The windows logo show on screen for a few seconds, then close.
Do you have more tools/suggestions or does it look like a new win10 clean install has to be done?

/Tom

I am not sure what you mean - how ..... I do not see any possibility, when I open controlpanel>system & security > windows update ?
There is no updates waiting after I have reinstalled Windows security essentials.

/Tom

Yes, windows update show no pending updates.

Unfortunately I ended up this morning, installing a feature for the motherboard, but ended up with a nice BSOD I could'nt fix. So I have now used some time to restore the drive to my newest back-up :(

I have just made a new search for windows updates (22:56 DNT), and still showing no updates avail (e.g no important, and no non-important).
Microsoft security essentials - nothing found.
Malwarebytes - nothing found.
Sfc /ScanNow result: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations".
System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [October 2014], download - scan completed.

Hi sw_maniac,

latest info:
I have downloaded the FREE Drivebooster7, and updated 40 drivers! This seems so far to work fine (no BSOD), but upgrading from win7 to win10 does still not work.
I have again tried the Media Creation Tool, but it still never reach a point where it show the "upgrade this pc etc.". I made a USBstick on another pc, and tried to upgrade within windows7.
does not work. I tried a USBstick with ISO, mounted - and tried upgrade within windows - does not work. If I try to boot from USB it does start the install screen, and later ask if I want to install or upgrade (install may work, but not upgrade existing win7 prg's). Choosing upgrade, it ask me to do this from within win7 = so far not possible.

FYI: All start prg.'s are again enabled. The former removed program's are reinstalled/enabled.

Windows update: office, MSsecurity essential etc. updates arrive/install ok.
Windows update: Possibility to update/upgrade this possibility does not show? Checking for hidden updates - no updates hiding!
AV and malware check - no errors.
Malwarebytes - no errors found.
SFC /scannow: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
SURT/SFCfix: No errors found, no errors corrected.

FRST64, 2 x txt files attached.

looking forward to your suggsetions.

When I was looking into the win7 'Task scheduler' today, I have noticed, every time I ran the 'MediaCreationTool1909', it show error code 0x80070005. Can it be helpful to reach a solution?
