Hey Guys n Gals,

I have a bit of an issue. I've given my number out like its hot sh*t. Well, I have someone texting me, claiming they know me, they're on my facebook, and I want to figure out who they are. I did a typical Google Search of the number and it shows up as a Google Voice number.

I'll only give the number out if you PM me for it. It comes up as if its from Astoria, Oregon. Carrier is Bandwidth.com.

Short of doing anything illegal, which I will not say I can or can't do, I'd like to figure out who this person is.

What I know from questioning; could be bad information or not.

Name: Unknown
Age: 21 - 30
Height: 5'7"
Hair: Brunette
Eyes: Blue
Books: Loves Christian Love novels from the 18th Century or some where around there.

I have a SERIOUS issue with curiosity. I'm the type of person that will move mountains to figure something out, regardless of how many times I got smacked or whipped. The satisfaction is what I love, but this is eating me alive. Someone help me scratch this dang itch! :(

Do you have an unlimited text plan? :0 (I don't!)

I "hear you" about curiosity, but this could be the beginning of something less than pleasurable in your life.

Numbers from Google, Skype and others do not necessarily follow conventional phone number issuance guidelines. You could easily get a phone number with an area code that is no where close to your actual location.

If the spamming continues, I suggest that you change your number.

i think your phone itself has an ignore number feature.
grouse around on your phone's settings.

um, have you texted them back and asked,
who are you? where do i know you from?
and if no reply,
please stop?

Most phones should have a block number feature, however, you always download a third-party app to block phone numbers.

I'd change my number, but I've had this same number since I was 11. It's one of the original Verizon Wireless numbers for my area.

It does, but that won't satisfy the curiosity.

I've asked, and they won't tell me. They want me to guess. My number is on most respectful websites, like sysnative or the one we shall not speak of. I want to figure it out, it'll eat at me for weeks until I do. I make no assumptions about it being a female or male, or if the information is true. If they want to play that game, I'll do it. Its a two way street.

It sounds like an immature jerk and not worth your time or curiosity. If you have Facebook/forum friends who are not personally known to you, you need to change your phone number so it is only visible to you. Real friends will already have your number. You are opening yourself up to scammers and identity thieves.

I've done this some time ago. I'm trying to think of places he/she may have gotten it from. Clearly it wasn't here for SF. The only other place I could think of was EVE Online or Game of War: Fire Age. Most of my EVE Friends have it because we would do fleet OPs at random hours of the day. I'd get a mass text from the server when an OP would start.

I think Corrine may be right, but I'm going to figure out who this person is. I won't break any laws, and if things end up going south, then I'll just block the number.
