Well,I'm kinda new here.. first of all I'd like to say thank you in advance for anyone who would be able to help me regarding the problem I will be posting.I have this software (I'm not sure if posting the name of that software is allowed so I opt not to mention it's name, just to be sure) that isn't working for almost 3 months. I don't know what happened why it won't open. And everytime I try to open it a box would appear:Untitled (2).jpgThen, I found solutions that really didn't help at all. I don't have any clue of what I should do. I deleted the said file as shown on that box but then, when I tried to open the software, hoping that it will open this time, it didn't. But that box didn't appear again. I uninstalled and reinstalled it over and over again and yet nothing worked. Now I restored the file since there might be some other solutions. Lately I've discovered other (possible) solutions since I think there are some corrupt files. I tried the sfc/scannow (I don't know what i's called) and the result is this:Untitled (3).pngAfter that, I don't know what to do next so I just leave it like that. What to do next? What seems to be the problem? Sorry I'm not a fan of any of this computer stuffs so I find it hard to understand, almost everything. I would gladly appreciate any help. I am very willing to provide any information that will be needed for the resolution of this problem. Thank you.

Hello and a warm welcome to Sysnative Forums!

Sorry I'm not a fan of any of this computer stuffs so I find it hard to understand, almost everything
Not to worry, I will guide you through everything step by step. :)

I will need some information off you so I can repair this for you. Please follow the below instructions to do this:

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button :startorb: then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
  8. Attach this new file to your next post.

Kind regards,
Stephen

Hello Kyiiim, welcome to Sysnative!

Stephen is very busy at the moment so I'll join in here.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Hi Tom, i can't post the file i think it's a large file. What to do? Thank you.

Hello :)

Stephen and Tom are both currently away, so you've now got me instead. However, I hope that you can understand that this means I'm taking on the wordload usually split between the three of us, so I'm really busy. Please post to the "Not Received Help" thread at the top of the Windows Update forum if I ever leave your thread unanswered for more than 48 hours.

As for uploading your CBS logs, we have a nice method for when they are too big for the forum:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe from [sfcfixdownload]this link[/sfcfixdownload]and save it to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFix.txt, and save this to your Desktop also.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put tags around the log to break up the text.

Hi Richard! :)

Sorry, it always took so long to reply to your messages, I'm a busy person so i hope you understand. Anyway, i clicked the link indicated above and downloaded a file SFcfix_Download.php but i think I'm lost at step 2. When i click the file nothing will download instead it would ask what program should i use to open it. Am i doing it correctly?

Thank you.

Hello again :)

Don't worry, I completely understand. I'm very busy too :)

The problems you were experiencing were actually because our website was broken. I'm really sorry about that. Can you please try again, and hopefully things will pan out in a more obvious way. If they don't, just give me a shout and I'll take a look.

Richard

Hi Richard!

Finally! I did it, but this what happens next...

Untitled.jpg

I followed all the steps correctly. Is there a problem?

Thank you.

Hello again :)

It worked! I should need only this one further logfile. We'll just have to wait and see to know for sure though.

Please drag and drop this new SFCFixScript2.txt on top of SFCFix.exe, and post the new output, just as last time.

Richard
