[SOLVED] Mozilla Nightly (64 bit firefox) Flash Issues

Hey all,

Recently with my Nightly I've had the flash plug-in crashing consistently. Generally flash videos play fine, including live tv (golf). It's the other types of flash that are on webpages that are the problem.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the newest flash. That didn't work. Then tried uninstalling flash and downgrading to 10.3, which also didn't work. When I downgraded the non-video flash was stable and the video flash was unstable.

I've got to be missing something somewhere.

If it matters, I am currently in the process of fixing other issues with the computer (windows update errors) which include bad reg keys etc. Could this be the cause and it will work itself out once I fix the windows update issues?

Edit: Running Win7Pro 64 bit. No realplayer installed strictly flash.

Hi,

If it matters, I am currently in the process of fixing other issues with the computer (windows update errors) which include bad reg keys etc. Could this be the cause and it will work itself out once I fix the windows update issues?

Possibly, and for that, I would recommend making a thread here - Windows Update - Sysnative Forums

Also, it's important to remember Nightly versions generally aren't particularly stable.

Regards,

Patrick

I've already got Tom in on the fight with windows update.

I gather that Nightly is inherently unstable (The multiple updates some days kind of gives it away) however Flash has worked fine on it since I installed Nightly in say June. It is only recently that it has started to take a dive off a cliff.

Flash works in one sense in IE but does the video player never starts the videos it just looks like it's buffering. But in Nightly the video plays instantly. But Nightly has crashed for other things. see attached screenshots for an example. Upper left pane.

And in FF23 it appears to run fine.

So maybe I just use FF instead, even though I installed nightly because they(Mozilla) suggested a 64-bit browser for a 64-bit system.

And not sure if this is a topic that has been beaten to death but is there a general consensus on the best browser running currently? I originally switched to firefox for adblock plus and have never thought of switching since.

Anyone else have thoughts on Waterfox, or Pale Moon for that matter?

Does chrome offer a 64 bit browser? Thoughts on that one?

I know Opera does but I've tried Opera (32 bit) on my laptop and I wasn't impressed. Sometimes it was fast sometimes slow, some webpages just wouldn't work no matter how much tinkering I would do.

Hi, jayrod12.

Why do you want to use a 64-bit browser? I haven't had any issues using 32-bit IE or FF on my 64-bit system.

No reason particularly.

I just think that what's the point of having a 64-bit system if you aren't going to use programming that is tailored to take advantage of it. Especially when running a RAM hog like firefox as opposed to a CPU hog like chrome.

I used Pale Moon awhile back but that was before Adobe had a 64 bit flash player so I of course quickly moved back to 32 bit............

For the record, I just realized there's a thread with a poll for browser popularity (I should know better)

and second, it was either a glitch on my end or a nightly issue because now it is fine (and they've had a few updates since the issue started and today it is fine)

I guess this thread could be marked as solved?
