Microsoft released Security Advisory 3010060 which relates to a vulnerability affecting all supported releases of Microsoft Windows, excluding Windows Server 2003. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Microsoft Office file that contains an OLE object. Microsoft is aware of limited, targeted attacks.

Direct download links of the Microsoft Fix it Solution are available in my blog post, Microsoft Security Advisory 3010060 with Fixit Solution, or KB 3010060.

According to the Microsoft Fix-It installer, the patch doesn't apply to my operating system, despite running Windows 7 x86 SP1; is this only relevant for users who open Microsoft Office files with Microsoft Office? I use LibreOffice instead.

Correct. As I read it, the "doesn't apply" is because you don't have Microsoft Office with Power Point installed.

It seems that the patch update wasn't nice.
I downloaded it last night, everything seemed fine until just now where Skype and Visual studio would crash, the event viewer crashed once as well.
Although FF and Outlook wasn't affected, it might not be related at all though.

Anyway, it created a restore point when I installed it so I reverted back and everything seems fine now...

I've had nothing but problems with this computer since day one, when I manage to get some money I'm getting a new one and cutting all ties as there is certainly some hardware problem, I don't want to waste any more money on this PC...

I had forgot about that option, that might have been the best idea.
