Since upgrading to W10 and making IE11 my default in place of the underdeveloped Edge, I keep getting an error popup when I exit Internet Explorer telling me Internet Explorer has stopped working. No duh! I exited IE, it was supposed to stop working. :r1:

It has never happened while I was using IE, only upon exit when I expect it to stop.

Anyone else seeing this?

FWIW, this morning, IE11 would not even start. I kept getting an "iexplorer.exe cannot start" error and when I tried to open a command prompt to run sfc /scannow, I got the same error. But Windows PowerShell opened fine to run SFC, but it found no errors.

I went into "Turn Windows Features on and off" and unchecked Internet Explorer and rebooted, then went back into Windows Features, checked Internet Explorer again, rebooted again and now IE and cmd.exe work just fine. IE starts and I get no errors telling it has stopped when exiting IE.

So we'll see if it sticks.

Oddly, Microsoft Edge is not listed as a "Windows Feature".

I think that Microsoft Edge is a Windows Store-based app, so it might be under the "Apps".

If so, it is hidden and even using the Apps sort feature, it say No Apps found. I don't think MS is going to make it easy for those who want to disable/uninstall Edge.

That's what I see :P

Maybe you can uninstall it via Powershell?

You can via Powershell using the remove-AppxProvisionedPackage command. But not sure that would be wise. If Edge really is an integral part of W10, who knows what will not work if Edge is removed.

I say if you don't want to use Edge, just change your default browsers. At least MS has made that easy to do.

It really seems strange that Internet Explorer is listed under Windows Accessories along wit Notepad, Snipping Tool, etc.
