Pardon:
The new Insider Preview is 15031.
Questions:
1. How to get no Start Menu errors after in-place update to Insider Preview 15031 Pro x64?
2. Copy and Restore MS Store Apps to a newer build?
Thanks, Donb

Hi, Don.

I moved your questions to a new thread so they wouldn't get lost among the Build update notices.

1. What errors are you getting when you access the Start Menu? Also, when you said "in-place update", are you referring to updating to the latest Insider Preview from the previous Build via Windows Update?

2. The Store Apps that you have installed should all still remain after updating to the latest Build.

Hi, Don.

I moved your questions to a new thread so they wouldn't get lost among the Build update notices.

1. What errors are you getting when you access the Start Menu?
The Live Tiles and many of the tiles are corrupted in that many show up blank
Also, when you said "in-place update", are you referring to updating to the latest Insider Preview from the previous Build via Windows Update?
Yes, but even though I am a legit Insider, the Update scans forever...downloading nothing. I finally found it online and tried a In-place Update
(Unarchive the ISO and run Setup, albeit in VMWare Workstation...I have corrupted Start Menu Tile Errors since build 15019 and here I try build 15031).
2. The Store Apps that you have installed should all still remain after updating to the latest Build.

I almost missed your reply buried in the quote. :smile9: As to the issue of downloading, downloading, downloading and nothing apparently happening, you aren't the only one who has run into this. Some people have found that a restart and checking again solves the problem, others have just let it run and the update finally downloads and still others used the Windows Update Troubleshooter. I found that Step 2 in the forum post linked in the Insider Updates thread helped me (PC Build 15019: Windows Update Issues - Microsoft Community.

As far as I've seen, the ISO hasn't been released for Build 15031. Since you didn't get the download, where did you get the ISO? Regardless, with corrupt live tiles as well as the Start Menu, you may just want to roll back to the previous build. Use the keyboard shortcut (Windows logo key + I) to open Settings. Then navigate to Update & security > Recovery. Click or tap the “Get started” button under “Go back to an earlier build” to uninstall the current build of Windows 10.

Don, what is it that you have already done -- roll back? Tried the suggestions when stuck on downloading?

As to the winbeta.com address you posted, that domain is for sale and the winbeta.org website is timing out showing a Host error.

Corrine:

Yes, I did roll back to 15014 and had 15019, 15025 patched in as an update wherein I got the Live Tile Errors on the Start Menu - else the Program Listing on the Left is OK. The site mention winbeta.org transferred to On MSFT - Your best source for Windows 10, Microsoft news
Will do an OFF to Service: Delivery Optimization. Will keep you informed.
Thanks, DonB
