My HP vista 64 '08 is crashing on a sometimes basis. Sometimes it crashes and won't start up from a "sleep" mode, or sometimes it just crashes during use. I have gotten it to start up again each time but I know I'm on thin ice, so thanks for your help and thanks Corrine.

I think I got one of them to load. Did I do that one right?

Hi lotodig, and welcome to Sysnative forums.

I am glad Corrine was able to help you with your previous problems. You are in good hands here with your crash issues as we have some of the best software and hardware experts on this site.

In order to help, we will need your reports from the jcgriff2 application. It appears you have zipped the .exe instead of the files that are placed in the jcgriff2 output folder. To upload the files we need for analysis, use the following steps:

  1. Please run the BSOD_Windows7_Vista_v2.64_jcgriff2 application

  2. The application will output the files to a Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 directory inside your Documents directory

  3. Right click on the Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 directory

  4. Next, hover the mouse over Send to

  5. Click Compressed (zipped) folder

  6. Upload the Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2.zip file here the same way you uploaded your previous .zip file

Hi, lotodig.

You've uploaded the .exe file again. After running that file, the results will be automatically saved in your Documents folder (Click Start > Documents). If you have already run it, Click Start > Documents and locate the directory (not a single file) named Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2. That is what you need to compress/zip as explained above.

For info, at the end of the run, Windows Explorer opens & highlights the Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 folder in Documents.

I was having problems with some kind of conflict with IE and FF.....the document would come up as an Explorer file and somehow FF, the browser I was using, would go crazy.. Flashing and blinking and I would have to do a hold down the power button to shut down the computer. I did not have IE even on my computer, only had FF and Chrome, so I downloaded IE9 this morn and since then have tried several time to do the BSOD application to no avail. IE keeps crashing, computer locks up with the white overlay or whole thing goes into the flashing blinking mode with IE opening windows, one on top of the other dozens of them. Of course I have no idea where to go from here...any help for this situation?

I should clarify the last post I made...All of that happened when I was trying to post the results of the Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2.zip file to this forum.

Try uploading the zipped Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 folder via Safemode with Networking.

Hi, lotodig.

Since it wasn't necessary for you to use Safe Mode with Networking during the cleanup process, this is how to do it:

  • Turn your computer off and then back on.
  • Immediately when you see anything on the screen, start tapping the F8 key on your keyboard.
  • Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter on your keyboard.
  • Windows will now boot into safe mode with networking and prompt you to login as a user.

It will look a bit strange, but you can still navigate to the zipped Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 folder and attach it here.
