I've always liked having shortcuts on my desktop.

You can get to the Control Panel in many ways, but I wanted a shortcut on the desktop to the Control Panel (and to a few other items).

Here is what I did:
WIN + E | type %userprofile%\appdata in the address bar | type *.lnk in the Search bar |
right-click on Control Panel in the resulting list | choose Copy |
WIN + D | right-click on the desktop | choose Paste

Now I have a Control Panel icon on my desktop that I can double-click to open the Control Panel

Here is a different approach:

Just another way.
Right click on the Desktop and select New...Shortcut
Type in "control" (without the quotes) and click "Next"
Give it a name and click "Finish"
