You can get to the Control Panel in many ways,but I wanted a shortcut on the desktop to the Control Panel (and to a few other items). Here is what I did: WIN + E | type %userprofile%\appdata in the address bar | type *.lnk in the Search bar | right-click on Control Panel in the resulting list | choose Copy | WIN + D | right-click on the desktop | choose Paste Now I have a Control Panel icon on my desktop that I can double-click to open the Control Panel Here is a different approach: http://www.guidingtech.com/13502/metro-apps-desktop-shortcut-taskbar-windows-8/
