This girl was killed today after she hid her first grader students in the classroom closets and cabinets and told the intruder with a gun and her students that they were in the gym while she stood between her students and the murderer in order to try and protect the children... In all, 20 children between the ages of 5 and 10 were shot to death in this event after the fact.

She's a hero in my books... :rose:

Speaking of heroes, we lost two locally on Christmas Eve day and two others are seriously injured in the shooting of the volunteer firefighter in Webster, NY. This hit very close to home because our son was an Explorer when in school, our daughter knew the volunteer fireman/police officer, and many friends are either volunteer or full-time fighters.

Yeah, it's not good when things like that happen. Sometimes it's a refresher for how things really can be in a somewhat worst-case scenario. So you still have to be careful. I still, remember when I was in school, and we had one of the worst murders to date in my community, even though it's probably one of the best in the city. We had a full lockdown, and it was on the news later that day. The policemen had to go through psychiatric sessions and special help because some were so traumatized at what they had seen in that apartment.
