My instructions were not clear enough. It looks as if you did not copy the downloaded the file into the C:\WUTemp folder. Try to find where you downloaded the file - probably the Downloads folder. Right click on the file then select Copy or Cut. Create WUTemp as a new folder on the C:\drive and then double click on it. The folder should be empty and you can then right click and select Paste. This should then add the file to the folder. You can than repeat the three commands and see if they work this time.

There are three more things I want to look at: Step 1: Please provide your Components hive: Retrieve Components Hive1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.2. Please copy this file to your desktop.Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or WeTransfer and then just provide the link in your reply. Step 2: Please zip up the complete Panther folder for me. Navigate to %systemdrive%\$Windows.~bt\Sources\ Right click on the Panther folder and select Send to and then Compressed (zipped) folder This will create Panther.zip which you can upload or share via OneDrive. Step 3: Please provide your latest CBS.log

It may take me a while to generate these but I will get back to you later this week.

I have not found them all yet but this might be enough to make some progress. Sorry if this is getting a bit complex but I hope you can follow along. Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it. The file is the same name as a previous one I asked you to download so make sure the previous one is deleted or overwritten. Save any open documents and close all open windows. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it. SFCFix will now process the script. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt. Attach this file into your next post for me to analyse please. Once this has completed please repeat steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 in that order from the posting instructions and upload the files. Attachments SFCFixScript.txt 119.3 KB · Views: 1

I'm not expecting anything to have improved but it is always worth a try. There is something that is deleting the CBS log files on your system - do you have a CCleaner program running or something else that may be deleting log files? Just curious.

They have a tendency to remove things or change things that might have consequences you are not aware of. In general the Windows operating system has become very good at looking after itself and there are many maintenance tasks running in the background that keep the system running troublefree.
