Let's hope, but sadly, intermittent problems tend to keep coming back, until whatever device is having problems either fails completely, or is replaced or removed for other reasons.
If it happens again, tell us about your computer and check to make sure there are no thumbdrives, wireless adapters, hubs, etc. you forgot about. And since this may be a hardware issue, instead of a reboot, do a total shutdown and a "cold start". That is, shutdown Windows, turn off your computer and then unplug the computer from the wall for 10 seconds or so.
Unless you unplug from the wall (or, if so equipped, you set the master switch on the back of the PSU to "off" or "0") the PC's power supply continues to provide +5Vsb standby voltage to several point on the motherboard keeping many settings and features "alive". That is, unless your unplug from the wall, your computer is in standby mode - just like your TV, or microwave oven. These circuits include the NIC, USB ports for mouse and keyboard activity, RAM (with Windows 8 anyway) and more.
A full cold start ensures any [possibly corrupt] driver or configuration setting being held "alive" is dumped, then read in anew, correctly. At least that's the theory and it works much of the time, where drivers and/or attached hardware are involved.
Anyway, you know where to find us.
