A portion of the heavily redacted report released by the FCC earlier this month. Google has just released a full version.

Google has released a full version of the FCC's report on the company's controversial gathering of personal data with Street View cars.

Google KNEW Street View cars were slurping Wi-Fi

Google knew its Street View cars were slurping personal data from private Wi-Fi routers for three years before the story broke in April 2010.

When the revelations were made, Google said its map service's cars were merely collecting SSIDs and MAC addresses.
The following month, it said network data had been captured, but this was the work of one engineer.

Six months later Google conceded that payload data, including emails and passwords, was recorded by the roving photo-motors – but still blamed a rogue engineer.

What should you learn from this?

Use a secure connection...

It's nothing new that people can spy on you if you use an unsecured network...

Personally, I would rather have google take the information and do nothing with it then have a group like anonymous get a hold of it.

More or less a reality check...

Google did nothing wrong IMO.
