That really sucks. I can't imagine all the after damage (mold and mildew) that will start growing.
And that almost means having to tear everything down and rebuild. It's very difficult to get rid of, and especially for the kind of masses that will be formed by the time this water is cleared out. It's mucky water too. Our mayor isn't doing too much though.
I hear complaints from people whenever they say how bad it is and selfish it is for people to talk about the Stampede. What they don't get is how much money this brings in every year, and that this money could be utilized in the rebuilding process. Especially since this disaster has occurred, I'm sure more money could be brought in if fundraisers were hosted because people worldwide come to see the Calgary Stampede -- It's one of the biggest events that we have. It would be "stupid" not to try and get it organized this year... Yet there are one-minded people that consider everybody who even so much as thinks, about the Stampede right now, as "ignorant", without looking at the bigger picture. (I would imagine it to be a good thing for bringing local residents of Calgary together at such a time as this too, which is
only just one other benefit. :r1:)
One ignorant person I was talking to earlier, mentioned taking the money that would be used to set up the Stampede and use that for donations in the rebuilding process, which is senseless if you think about it. Oh man, it was a long talk with this individual. That's a huge loss when you think about the delta between the profits made from the Stampede as a gain, over the deduction from that $0 profit point (a complete deduction/loss), in which will only be pushed on us taxpayers anyways, so yes, the government is paying for it, but ultimately it is us that pays for that (the government just takes it from our pockets and does the spending part). I found it amusing how this person thought that
this was the best solution... We've already helped fund a useless million dollar bridge and a few other things that don't matter, and now lets have our government use our money to rebuild everything after lots of people have already lost nearly everything from the flood. lol, the economy here will go to :thumbsdown2: if that was decided.
The big thing is that people seem to be more frustrated than anything. Trying to find who might be to blame for certain things, etc... If humans were smart, we would find a way to create solutions instead of finding excuses. In my opinion, all this panic and social "shock" could be doing more damage to us than anything else. People are in spending mode and trying to stock up on food, water, etc... And I get it, but as soon as the regular "flow" changes, that's usually when the system breaks as far as I'm concerned. This flood is like someone lighting a match near a tank of gasoline, just to watch and see the reactions that are made from it lol. I'm sure there are people that would disagree with me, but from what I have seen based on the last few days, this is my view on it.
