BrianDrab Emeritus Joined Oct 20, 2014 Posts 18,131 Location United States Dec 30, 2015 #30 I see it. I'll monitor it periodically and let you know how far the transfer is. So I'll check tomorrow morning and then we'll be able to extrapolate how long the transfer will take based on our internet speeds. Thanks.

Note: It's critical for the fix that it is saved to your desktop. 2. Right-click on SFCFix.zip and select Extract All... 3. Ensure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click the Extract button. 4. A folder will open and you will see a a file named fix.bat. 5. Right-click on this file and select Run as administrator. Answer Yes to allow when prompted. 6. A black screen will come up for a second or two and the fix will be done. Please let me know when complete. Thank you. Attachments SFCFix.zip 1.1 KB · Views: 12

If not you can check at a site like Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test Please do the following. SFC Scan 1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin) 2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter sfc /scannow 3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter. copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt" 4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Right-click on this file and choose Send To...Compressed (zipped folder). Please upload this zipped file CBS.zip to this thread Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Reviewing the logs I see that even a manual fix didn't work which is what I feared. There are only 3 options at this point. 1. Attempt a repair install with Windows 10. So basically install Windows 10 right over the top of what you have which may repair your machine. I can provide instructions for you to try this. 2. Continue the upload of files so I can attempt a diagnosis. 3. Clean install.

BrianDrab Emeritus Joined Oct 20, 2014 Posts 18,131 Location United States Jan 5, 2016 #38 Sorry. Having another very busy day. Basically you use the Media Creation Tool to create the Windows 10 media on to a USB thumb drive. Then run the installer from the USB drive and install right over the top of your current install. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 I can provide more details tonight but this may suffice.

I've always had better luck with USB but it should work. Just don't boot to it. Put the DVD in while you are running your machine and then run the setup from there and perform an upgrade.
