[SOLVED] Errors 0x800B0100, 0x800F0900 - tried many fixes - no good

Hi,

I have a problem with Win Update. I have read a lot on this forum, tried many, many solutions, but still 3 updates won't budge:
KB2564958
KB3006226
KB3020338

Before this I had a problem with HDD - bad sectors, freezing Windows Explorer, Win Update completely gone from the system. I have cleaned up as much as possible, replaced the drive, but surely the clone brought over some issues. I've fixed almost all by doing Win7 upgrade in place, just this bit of problem just stuck.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Let's do the following.


Step#1 - Fix Corrupt Files
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files). If the Manifests folder doesn't exist within Winsxs you will need to create it.

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files). If the Packages folder doesn't exist within Servicing you will need to create it.

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Should be all good, but Win Update has error 8024200D on KB3020338. I will try with Windows6.1-KB3020338-x64.msu manually...
 
Manual install worked in this case. After reboot - all is done! Finally :D Thanks!
